Printer Repair

Printer Repair - Physical issues:

Unfortunately printer repair is just not something we can help with.  In fact...almost all printers are not designed to be repaired.   Parts are impossible to find and so are repair manuals.    We cannot help with paper jams, printing defects,  cartridge issues.  Another reason we can't help is because most people don't want to put money into an old printer when a new one is right around the corner for about $100 with fresh ink!.  Trust us...if you have a mechanical problem with your printer...you will be throwing good money after bad.   Our current recommendations for a new printer would be Brother, Canon or Epson.  Our preferred retailer would be Costco or Sam's Club.   If you can get a 2-3 year warranty for 20% or less of the selling price of the printer....go for it!

Printer Repair - Wi-Fi or LAN connectivity issues:

If it's connected via WiFi or network cable in your home or office...we cannot help....because if you bring your computer and printer to our store...and we get it to work, that doesn't mean it will work when you take it home.   In these cases, we recommend this procedure for you:

Step 1

For Windows:  Go to the control panel, then programs and features.  Remove all related software for your printer then reboot the computer.  Or Settings / Devices and Printers. (If you can't find, search for printers).  Then go to the actual printer...if it has a display...you should also reset the printer back to factory settings.

For Mac OS:  The simplest method would be to got to spotlight, or the search icon in the top right corner and type "Printers". Here you can remove and add printers

Step 2

Go to the manufacturer's website's support page and download the latest drivers for your printer.

Here are some links:

HP:  https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/printers

Epson:  https://epson.com/Support/Printers/sh/s1

Brother:  https://www.brother-usa.com/brother-support/driver-downloads

Canon:  https://www.usa.canon.com/support/software-and-drivers

Step 3

Run the downloaded software, at some point it should ask you how you want to connect...generally the software should connect the printer to the network. If not, it will ask you to connect to the network on the printers display.  If there's no physical issues with the printer, you should be good to go.  If the printer doesn't connect...then you may need to have a tech visit you at your home or office.   Please note...this can get expensive and you still might have a defective printer.   For this service, please contact PC Pros Onsite at 248-366-8095 for their assistance.

Printer Repair - USB Connected

Please refer to top paragraph...if you have a physical issue with the printer, we cannot help.   If your printer is working fine and perhaps you just need to configured to your new computer....sure, we can help.  But only if the printer is compatible with your operating system.  Maybe you have a 10 year old printer and you just bought a new Windows 11 Desktop.   There is no guarantee that your printer will work.  This needs to be researched.   Please feel free to send us an message.  We are happy to research this for you.    Or click on the "repair drop off form" above, please provide the exact model number of the printer and tell us what windows version you have.   We will get back to you shortly with an answer.   This service can run approximately $99 if brought into the store.  We also may be able to remotely setup your printer for you.  Please visit our HELP page for pricing
